Mrs Elizabeth Gauchiri holds a Master of Arts degree in Economic Development from Williams College, Massachusetts, USA (1992) a Post Graduate Diploma in Economics, Economic Institute, Boulder Colorado, USA (1991) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from University of Nairobi, Kenya (1986). She has a long experience in competition and Consumer policies issues. She is currently working as a Legal affairs Officer at UNCTAD since May 2000 in the Division on International Trade in Goods, Services and Commodities (DITC), Competition and Consumer Policies Branch.
Before joining UNCTAD, She worked with Kenya Government in various Ministries as an Economist. She joined the Kenyan Monopolies and Prices Commission (now Kenya Competition Authority) in 1989 and served at various positions; including as the Head of Mergers and Acquisitions Division and as an Assistant Commissioner. She is one of the of the founding staff members of the Monopolies and prices Commission. Mr. Yves Kenfack is Economist at the UNCTAD. He is specialized in Industrial Economics and Economics of Transportation. Since joining UNCTAD in 1997, he has been involved in the design and implementation of capacity building projects in trade and competition law and policy in French speaking countries in Africa. I also worked with the Trade Policy Division of the World Trade Organization were he assisted in the preparation of trade policy reports of some least developed countries in Africa. He graduated from the universities of Yaoundé (Cameroon), Caen (France). Mr. Sangmin Song is a national expert in the Competition and Consumer Policies Branch of UNCTAD. He is developing, managing and participating in technical assistance projects conducted by UNCTAD on competition and consumer protection policy and law, especially for East Asia. Prior to joining the branch of UNCTAD, he has worked for the Korea Fair Trade Commission in the area of antitrust, involved in a good deal of interesting cases covering merger & acquisition, abuse of market dominance and cartels. Mrs. Ulla Schwager joined UNCTAD's Competition and Consumer Policies Branch in 2008 as associate expert. She is in charge of carrying out technical assistance and capacity building in the field of competition law and policy, as well as of substantively preparing and organizing intergovernmental meetings in this field. Previously, Ulla worked as a German qualified competition lawyer in the Brussels office of Fresh fields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. She received an LLM from the University of Cologne, a Maîtrise en Droit from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and passed the first and the second German legal state exams in Berlin.
