20:00: Official dinner in the Grand Ball Room (Pacific Sutera)

Malaysian danceFollowing the first working hours of the conference, an official dinner will take place with a view on the Marina and the islands of Sabah. This reception will be the occasion to welcome all participants and to launch informal discussions on partnership building for a strong tourism sector. Prominent guest speakers who will participate in the high-level segment of 14 March will be present at this dinner.


Far away and close guests will be welcomed with an introduction to the dances and typical food from the Land below the Wind, and they will savour the taste of Malaysian gastronomy.

It will be hosted by the Ministry of Tourism of Malaysia.

10:50: Signing ceremony

In the context of the topic of the conference, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UNCTAD and the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), Canada, will be signed by Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi and Pr. François Bédard, representing the Acting Rector of UQAM.

12:30: lunch at the Sutera Harbour Resort

In the setting of the themes related to the Land below the Wind, guests will have the opportunity to pursue informal discussions on e-tourism.

It will be hosted by the Yayasan Sabah Group, for the State Government of Sabah, Malaysia.
