In Bolivia
- Promote and disseminate SIRESE regarding its competition and consumer protection roles in five regulated sectors.
The first sub-activity (May-August 2005) is to prepare a strategy to bring together SIRESE superintendencies and target consumers in order to promote the role of SIRESE in protecting consumer rights. The next sub-activity (remaining months of 2005) will be the organisation of seminars in several cities of Bolivia.
- Prepare four case studies (reports) on the existence of anti–competitive practices and ways a general competition law can have implications for the degree of competition.
Two studies will be prepared for 2005. The first study is currently being carried out by a national consultant. The used clothing market was selected for the study.
- Establish and implement three academic (teaching) programmes in collaboration with INDECOPI on competition and consumer protection law, to take place at three Bolivian universities in cooperation with foreign experts and universities.
- Arrange for SIRESE and Ministry of Economic Development officials to participate in a foreign competition agency (COMCO).
In close cooperation with the Swiss Competition Commission (COMCO), it is envisaged that, by December 2005, three Bolivian interns will have undertaken three-month internships in a foreign competition authority (Switzerland).
