In El Salvador
- Undertake two studies (reports) on the extent and effect of anti-competitive practices. The first study on surface transport is currently being carried out. The remaining study (medicines) is to be concluded before December 2005.
- Organise a seminar (targeting parliamentarians, senior government officials, media representatives).
It is envisaged to organise the seminar before or after the Annual Meeting in Managua (December 2005)
- Organize three seminars, attended by producers and consumers, on the benefits of promoting competition in El Salvador.
Two seminars will be held before December 2005 in two provinces of El Salvador (Santa Ana and San Miguel)
- Organise two workshops for consumer and business to be attended by key consumers and business people.
- Organize eight workshops to sensitize national legislators and relevant sectors of civil society on consumer protection issues.
- At the neighbourhood level, organise working meetings with local leaders.
- Prepare a report to comment on the amended national consumer protection law so as to bring it up to international standards.
A national consultant from El Salvador will be in charge of this activity. It is envisaged to have a comprehensive document to comment on the new national consumer protection law.
