There are two major committees that have ensured the overall performance of the Programme:
1. The Programme Management Committee (PMC) which is composed by UNCTAD and the NPCs. Their primary objective is to execute the programme on a daily basis;
2. The Strategic Direction Committee (SDC) integrated by COMCO, SECO/COSUDE and UNCTAD. Their main objective is to evaluate the outcomes of the programme on a regular basis.
A major role of these committees is to provide substantive backstopping to COMPAL activities. As an executing agency, UNCTAD regularly provides such inputs in the first committee (the PMC) and during the annual monitoring meetings. SECO and COMCO also participate in the evaluation and monitoring meetings at the level of the SDC. Currently COMPAL II has grown as a platform calling for Annual Conferences.
At the level of the PMC, UNCTAD has accomplished important achievements both with regards to the substantive and managerial/administrative contribution. The following summarizes the role played by UNCTAD in both areas of intervention.
