High-Level Panel on Creative Industries and Development
The panel agreed that support for domestic creative industries should be seen an integral part of the promotion and protection of cultural diversity.
The High-Level Panel on Creative Industries and Development comprised more than 40 eminent artists and experts from the cultural community, industry, academia, international organizations and civil society, from many parts of the world, both developed and developing. The panel focused on ways in which the creative industries could help developing countries expand their domestic economic activity while increasing their exports and participation in global trade. It was agreed that support for domestic creative industries should be seen an integral part of the promotion and protection of cultural diversity. Moreover, since such diversity is a global public good, it also needs to be fully supported by the international community.
