Group of 77 Special Ministerial Meeting | 40th Anniversary Commemoration
UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan; G-77 meeting.
A Special Ministerial Meeting marked the fortieth anniversary of the establishment of the Group of 77.

The ministers met to assess the achievements and evolution of the Group and to analyse the new challenges to development in the context of a complex and fast-changing world economy. A solemn declaration was adopted defining the new strategies of the 132 member countries and reaffirming the continuing commitment of the Group to the objectives and principles adopted in the first Joint Declaration at the founding of the G-77, during the first UNCTAD Conference in 1964.
