Description

 

With the support of the GTZ, and in close co-operation with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce  a training course developed with the UNCTAD TrainforTrade methodology on “Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) & tourism”  will be conducted in Colombo from 10 to 12 october 2006.

Its objectives are to  provide participants with relevant instruments for assessing the opportunities and impact  of information and communication technologies in the tourism sector;  and to highlight the different responsibilities of parties involved in the definition of a national e-tourism strategy for inclusive devlopment.

A special emphasis will be put on  a) the relationship between ICT and tourism, b) the  Destination management systems (DMS): an outcome of the Internet revolution, c) the formulation of a national strategy for e-tourism: a prerequisite for the implementation of a DMS, d)  case studies on Vietnam, Cambodia and Sri-Lanka, and  d) a  role play on the implementation of a national e-tourism strategy.
