The Second International Forum on Solidarity Tourism and Trade Fair will be held in Tuxtla Gutiérrez in Mexico, from March 23 to March 26.

Objective

The first objective of Chiapas 2006 is to contribute to strengthening the international movement for fairer trade for agricultural products and crafts, as well as for services, tourism in particular.

Expected Results

CHIAPAS 2006 seeks three primary results:

• Strengthening national, regional and international fair tourism and fair trade networks by improving the participants knowledge of each other, in particular the representatives of grassroots organisations, and by allowing for the exchange of experiences;
• Increasing the movement’s visibility through a final declaration, a “Manifesto for Fairer World Trade”, disseminated widely in the media thanks to an ensemble of products (exhibit, film, CD-ROM); and
• Preparing joint action internationally, with the proposal of an “International Action Plan for Fairer Trade” for the 2006-2010 period.
