Background information: The Technology Fair of the Future will bring together innovative enterprises, technology parks and institutes with research and development activities operating at or near the frontier of knowledge in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The fair will offer participants the opportunity to present new ideas, designs, concepts, future products and markets as well as foresight visions in their fields of specialization. It will also constitute a platform for forging partnerships, linkages, strategic alliances and joint ventures for improved access to markets.
Purpose: The fair will concentrate on and highlight selected technology sectors - energy, biotechnology, nanotechnology, materials, ICT and the aerospace industry - as well as selected technology subsectors important for low-income countries and least developed countries, such as renewable energy, agro-food processing, medicines and building materials. The fair will have the following components:
- Exhibition
- Forum on technology trends and needs in global value chains
- Business meetings
- Catalogue of innovative enterprises
The forum on technology trends and needs in global value chains, a component of the fair, will consist of a number of interactive dialogues on important science and technology issues. The dialogues will give stakeholders from developing and least developed countries an opportunity to present their technology needs, to identify mechanisms for matching needs and trends, and to determine their potential role in global value chains. The forum offers also practical information on how to set up and manage innovative enterprises to operate in regional and global markets
