UNCTAD supports sustainable tourism in Mali

In order to support sustainable tourism in Mali, a technical assistance mission has been conducted from 12 to 23 September 2005 in Bamako.

In this context and in close cooperation with the Tourism and Craft Ministry, a TrainforTrade three days high-level seminar on "ICT and Tourism" for Development was organized

This seminar was structured around five main modules:

  • The symbiotic relationship between ICT and tourism;
  • Destination Management Systems, outcome of the Internet revolution;
  • Formulation of a national e-tourism strategy, prior to a DMS's implementation;
  • Examples of public-private partnerships in the field of e-tourism: Madagascar (least developed country), Tunisia (developing country), and Québec;
  • Role-playing game on the formulation of implementation of a national e-tourism strategy.
